Knight Rider Movie Review
I have a few problems with this new incarnation of Knight Rider. If anyone recognizes my name you will know that I came up with the name of the Knight Industries Three Thousand (which I have contacted NBC/Universal Legal about and am awaiting a response) and this was based on the 1995 Pontiac Trans Am and later the 1996 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air version. I have created an updated theme song that keeps the original in mind but with a more modern feel back in 2000 and I will be releasing it on iTunes soon. I don't mind that the new car was a Ford since Team Knight Rider used them. I do have the problem that this car seems to have gone backward when compared with the Knight Industries Two Thousand. It ran on all types of fuel but its primary fuel was hydrogen. It also had a realistic "super pursuit mode" where the fins didn't magically appear when activated. I also thought it was in bad taste not to have the voice of William Daniels as K.I.T.T. but they could have had a more distinguished voice that wasn't so submissive. And the ability to crack into the cars system should have never been able to happen since this incident happened with the original K.I.T.T. I suppose this has to do with the Microsoft Sync system. Since the original K.I.T.T. had Apple DOS programming. And an Apple system has yet to be cracked in the real world. Also how many children does Michael Knight have? First it was Jenny Andrews and now Mike Tracer? Plus Mike Tracer who never grew up or knew his father just happened to become an Army Ranger just like Michael Long/Knight?
And please do not get me started with the CGI scanners. They should have stuck with the original design but using L.E.D. technology. One thing they did do right is make K.I.T.T.s interface with the real world more believable. But other than this it doesn't seem like this K.I.T.T. was truly more advanced than the Knight Industries Two Thousand. Especially when this K.I.T.T. was shutdown his integrity was that of an ordinary car. When the original would maintain his integrity even if shutdown due to the molecular bond that was applied to its body.
